While this L.A. based rock group has been around since before most of us were in high school, Them Terribles finally made their mark in 2005 when they landed a spot on the Vans Warped Tour. But, it was their breakout 2007 EP release Rock, Paper, Terribles that got them on the playlists. The tune “Dreamers”, which in fact was the last track on the album, has been played in all music circuits since its debut three years ago.
Stumbling upon this song a couple days ago, I couldn’t help but immediately run to my computer and figure out who this band was. (You have to remember, in 2007 I was rocking the standard MCR and The Used… constantly.) So, forgive me if I am a little behind with this group. “Dreamers” starts out with an interesting drum sound and beat, I thought it was going to bust into a rap song. But, a simple piano breaks in alongside lead singer, Matt Green.
Bringing out the true angst of the season, “Dreamers” is a soulful, electric tune. Two choruses and a couple different varieties of singing the hooks is all that makes up this simple yet powerful song.
“Hey there dreamers
I know you feel alone
Way out there out there dreamin’
You got no proof to take back home
All you dreamers, dreamers, dreamers
All you dreamers, dreamers, dreamers
All you screamers, screamers, screamers
All you dreamers, dreamers, dreamers
Dreamers…”
While they stick to their stomping grounds of L.A. and Hollywood for most current shows, Them Terribles is currently in the studio. Reminder to keep tabs on these guys. For more information about Them Terribles, visit their MySpace at www.myspace.com/themterribles
